the 351w would because that is what we have in 3 of our mustangs. they are very strong through the rpm range

there is no replacement for Displacement.

leave the crank an rods along a go for a cam, lifter,rockers,intake,carb. a boss 302 crank is the best 302 crank made, 289,351 are not as durable. personally i would leave it the way it is, for that is just as rare of a motor as the ford 429  single overhead cam. you find one an restore it to factory. not sure i helped but envy you ,if you have a Boss 302.  good luck

What are you after Horsepower or displacement? If you have a Boss 302 your rods are already very strong. At this point I guess asking you to leave it stock is out of the question.

So what you want to do is determine how you will use the car and in what RPM range you want.

Find out what your rear axle ratio and tire size is.

Then call the cam manufacturer of your choice, give them that information and let them select a cam for your car. They will also suggest what carb you need or what to set the duty cycle of your injectors to.
