  1. No.  I would imagine a few years down the line the Gov. will make a private channel out of the analog bands. Why is the gov. so concerned w/ everyone being able to watch TV anyway?  It furthers my assumption they want a brain dead general public.  Google the website and order your free converter box.

  2. Nope rabbit ear antenna will not work after 2009. You need to get a converter box (walmart, radio-shak, to name a couple). If you don't you'll just get static.

  3. jus get freeview you cheap c*nt they are only like £5 these days and the ariels are only like £10!

    (thats what i paid)

and why dont you sign up to cable tv anyway, youve got internet so get cable its cheap too :)

  4. Your rabbit ears won't work, you will need to buy a converter box.

  5. This is still the least understood question on Yahoo Answer, though I have answered it several times, so here we go again.

In the first place it only effects about 1/3rd  (major network and affiliated stations) of the TV stations, the other 2/3rds will still send analog transmissions (and some of them have been simal-casting both analog and digital signals for over 2 years). You will need a D/A converter to get the new digital channels and you may want to get a converter that will pass both analog and digital signals. The market will determine what kind of converters will come on as the demand dictates their use. Currently, there seems to be 3 types to choose from, digital only and using a universal type remote, A/D also with a universal remote and a broad band converter (much like cable) that will pass the signals and tuning is done as before. The choice of an antenna is a variable depending on each users reception area. In my case, a pair of rabbit ears on one of my computers ( the other 2 are on Roadrunner), is adequate, due to the fact that from where I live, I can pick up all the Dayton stations and most of the Cinci. ones as well.

  6. You will need a converter box and a new antena - the only exeption is for area's that receive their signals via translators.  Translators do not have to change over to broadcast digital signals.
