Question:

What will happen if I don't get my cavity fixed?

I am pretty sure I have a cavity. I've been having horrible pains in my tooth whenever I eat something cold. It went away for awhile, so I thought I had nothing to worry about. However, now the pain is back, but it progressed to eating anything, it hurts.

Also, I'm not sure if this happens, but does the gum get infected without treatment?

Because where I think the cavity is, my gum hurts and is sore. The top layer of it seems to not be there, in the front and back.

I can't go to the dentist though, because my dad's job doesn't offer insurance.

  1. Yes your gums can get infected and eventually you could lose your tooth. Cavities rot the tooth and can cause a lot of pain and other issues.

I was unable to go to the dentist for many years because I could not afford it. When I finally went, I had to have dental surgery and 8 teeth pulled...not pleasant. I am not saying this to scare you, but it is the truth.

I would suggest trying somehow to get it fixed, and lay off sugary candies and brush and floss as often as possible, to keep your teeth healthy.

  2. it will turn brown, crack, youll swallow pieces of your tooth while asleep or eating/drinking. there will be a gap where the tooth once was. my advice: get it fixed

  3. GET IT FIXED!!!  My boyfriend did that and ended up paying almost $2000 for a root canal.  It's much cheaper to get a cavity fixed!

  4. your tooth will rot from the inside out causing bad breath and eventual losss of that tooth. GOOD LUCK!!!

  5. You probably have an abcess.  You have to go to the dentist there is no way around it.  Tell your dad you have to go.  He just has to pay for it.

  6. my dad had the same thing

if u dont get it taken care of it can grow and spread troughout ur mouth and u will prob hav 2 get a root canal or teeth can start chipping and falling out...

  7. you could get a really bad infection on your gums, and from that, your blood could get the infection, and yo could get hemophelia. You could die of something like that.

Weird enough, a friend of mine died form a rotten tooth he had, and the infection got really bad and he actually died :(

so i think you should get that checked. Insurance or not, it's risky.

  8. a cavity that's left untreated over time can eventually spread to other parts of your body and give you other health problems. i'm not sure if it can kill you.

  9. the cavity will widen and soon you'll need a root canal, which is a way more annoying procedure

  10. omg! that's very stupid of you, when u got the cavity, u should have gotten it filled out immediately, it's about $200. i should have done the same thing. but just ur cavity, my cavity has gotten worse, this time when i went for a check on my tooth, i was told a filling will not do and i need a root canal, which is like $1000! i don't want it to get any worse, so i have an appointment this sat. to get the root canal. in order for the tooth to be well protected, i also need a crown, which is almost another $1000!! now that i think back, i really should have gotten the filling!!

  11. well it could lead to root canal surgery

  12. Root Canal and CROWN! Better to spend 100 bucks now than a thousand later!

  13. Since it's in your mouth and is releasing bacteria, it can actually kill you. That's not a joke, it is a fact and you can look it up. You see, with the bacteria there all the time, you will swallow it no matter how hard you try not to. Eventually you'll swallow so much that you can get diseases from it and it can cripple you.

  14. filling or root canal

  15. Just because you do not have insurance...does not mean you cannot have your tooth fixed.....you just have to pay for it....

Insurance through a job is just a different way of paying.....you may just receive reduced rates or what not....

There is no dentist I know that will not accept money as payment for treatment!

You need to be seen right away....to prevent further damage to your tooth, and general health!

Most dentists can help with a payment plan, or dental financing to help those who do not have insurance....

You will have to talk to the office staff at the office to make the payment arrangements....but do NOT let that stop you from seeking treatment now!!

    good luck!
