I am 27 and have just had my eyes tested. the optition said my eyes are very slightly out and reading at long distance is very slightly blurred although I can still read whats there. Im not overly keen on waering glasses and the optition said I would only need them for the cinema, watching football, things at long distance just to make things a little clearer. The main reason Im not keen is I know I dont like the look of them and most of the time would put up with the slightly blurred vision than wear them, also the price is absolutely stupid so am reluctant to buy something I may not use. What I want to know is what will happen to my eyes if I dont wear them? Will this make them get worse? Or if I dont mind putting up with my vision as it is(it really isnt that bad) then meically am I not at risk?

  1. Nothing will happen they will just stay like that until you wear the glasses

  2. Don't wear them if you don't want to. If it gives you better vision driving, at the very least use them at night. It will help with street signs. Just get yourself an inexpensive pair. You don't need anything fancy when it comes to the frame. A cheap frame may last you longer for the simple fact that you will likely use them very little, only when you feel it's necessary. If you end up wearing them more than you think, then next time upgrade to something better. At your age it is unlikely that your vision will change substantially until age 40 or so, when you may require reading glasses. Your eyes will not get better OR worse by wearing or not wearing. You will only see a bit sharper, that's it.

  3. nothing will medically happen to your eyes but you might find as you get older they will get worse. but that happens to everyone really. did you speak to him about contact as there are daily ones you can get which are really comfortable and you can throw them away after one day?? they will work out alot cheaper and you can wear them when you choose too.

the other problem with blurred vision is after some time you might get sore eyes or headaches because you find you need to use more muscles to see better. a good pair of glasses is always an investment and my patients will usually last them about 2 years. shop around though as everyone wants your business and you will be amazed at the discounts you get when you look elsewhere.

  4. Nothing bad will happen. Relax. Most people don't have a choice. You do.
