I took the history subject test and it was really hard. Is the history subject test really that important to colleges? And does the score get sent to all colleges you apply to?

  1. The thing is you have to specifically ask for your scores to be sent to colleges. On your admission ticket you probably listed some colleges or universities that you'd like your scores to be sent to. What I did (because Math Level 2 was RIDICULOUS) was I removed all of them from receiving my scores. I'm not canceling my scores, I'm just not forcing those colleges to see my bad score in math. I'll still have the scores available but again those colleges that you listed won't be forced to see your bad grade on the history test.

To change your colleges or universities go onto your College Board account online and select "College Board Tests" and then click on "Registration". From there click on the link that says "Update Score Recipients" or something along those lines and there should be an option there that says "remove all recipients" (I don't think you can remove just a few, I think it's either all or nothing now that payments have been finalized). From there it'll process your request and your scores won't be sent, you'll just have them in case colleges want them for things like course placement.

  2. yes, the score does get sent to the college that you choose to send it. However, you can take it again and try to for a higher score. As to whether or not the history subject test is important, it all depends upon the college that you are trying to get into.....

  3. yes

  4. First, YOU send your scores to the colleges you apply to. If, when you registered to take the SAT Subject Test, you filled out the part where it asked you if you wanted to send your scores to specific colleges, then your scores will be sent to those colleges.

SAT Subject Tests generally aren't that important to most colleges, but it really depends on each individual school. Many schools don't even ask you to submit Subject Test scores; of course, some do (for instance, I know NYU wants the scores from two Subject Tests). It also depends on what you're planning to major in - for instance, if you know you want to be a History major, the schools you apply to may put more weight on your History Subject Test score than they would if you said you were planning to major in, say, Spanish.

  5. Yes it does get sent out to all colleges. As long as you have decent grades and money to pay for college or you meet the college finicial aid package you will still get excepted into college. The test does not matter. I got a 18 on my act I am a sophmore in college. All of my professors tell me that these tests dont really tell you anything about the individual. People that get better scores can more money for college. Some one could guess on SAT or ACT and get a 26. If you plan on retaking the test to try to get a higher score there are self help books on the SAT at barnes and noble.

  6. i wouldnt worry about it. what some colleges are looking for is if you took challenging courses. if anything, no matter what grade, it will help you because you're showing that you took an advanced level test in high school.
