What will happen if I marry some one that already has bad credit and child support. ?

Well it hurt me if I Merry some one with past financial problems such as past bills, bad credit, and child support. Will it burden ME even know It was the past and hes trying to fix now because he was young and stupid then and now learneded his lessen. I hear him say evey day his regrets from the past. What will happen? Can I file thing separate even know hes trying to fix his problem's now. We have been dating for 8 years and I need advice to further on US.

  1. Your credit rating becomes their credit rating.

Your credit will merge with his credit and fall, fall, fall.  Creditors may be able to go after you for his past debts.  Plus, if you want to make a major purchase together, such as a house, you won't be able to until you clear up his problems.  Is this what you want?  His child support payments will eat into his available income for years to come.

  3. His problems become yours! Even if your rating is not effected, when its time to buy something together you both put down your social security # and problems will begin. As a female your social security # will change with your name. The child support is ok as long as YOU make sure its paid on time, if its not they will attach his wages.
