Question:

What will happen if I remove my piercing before 6 weeks?

I got my ears pierced last week Sunday. I have had no problems whatsoever from them.

Today I went out and bought myself some really cute new earrings...but my problem is that the piercer says I should wait at least 6 weeks before removing the titanium studs and putting in other earrings.

My question is, why? What will happen if...say, this Friday I replace my studs for a different pair of earrings for a family outing?

  1. the piercingn could go wrong, dnt do it, you could end up with a lot of bleeding, and an infection. just wait for the 6 weeks, the skin needs to repair around the studs so it is ready for earrings. dont do it! :)

  2. i changed my earings the day i got them because it was the second time i got them pierced i put hoops in cause the studs went through my ear the first time

  3. For me I've pierced my ears before. I don't see any problems removing it  even after piercing it for 3 days. However if the piercer says you should at least wait for 6 weeks definitely have his reasons.

    1. He doesn't know how your ear would react to the piercing

    2. He wants to play save, for your own good.

And 6 weeks is to cater to the general.. For me, it turned out ok. I don't know for you. It vary from person to person.

If you do change the stud, please at least..

    1. Sterilize your hands ensure hands are washed thoroughly

    2. Also clean and wash the new stud before putting in.

    3. Apply alcohol to cool/calm down and prevent swelling

    Take care!

  4. The studs that they have in are a certain size to make sure that the hole stays the proper size. If you change it then the hole will get too small, and wont be worth it.

  5. The studs you get when you pierce your ear are hypoallergenic. If you use different metal earrings it could cause an infection with pus..
