Question:

What will happen if I take out my tongue piercing before 6-8 weeks of it being in?

I'm 16, I'm thinking of getting my tongue done, but my parents won't let me so I'm getting it done behind their back. (I know that's not the right thing to do but I really want it done) Its legal to get your tongue done at 16 without parent permission in Australia.

How can I prevent being so obvious that I've got it done?

Does it make you talk all weird? If so how long will it last for?

Thanks

  1. It takes about a week to start talking normal, and I managed to keep it hidden from my parents for about a month. I just made sure I didn't open my mouth so much when i talked to them, then I yawned and that was it. But I would wait at least a month maybe shorter before you change it and you can put a retainer in if you have to.

  2. Dont take it out untill it heals and you will talk funny for about 3 days make sure you look up aftercare of a tongue piercing so it can heal right (:

  3. Your tongue will probably swell and you'll talk funny for a few days. It's best to wait. If you leave it out, it will grow back quickly.

  4. The tongue piercing will close very fast, it can take only 30 seconds!

  5. I was in exactly the same boat.  Mum wouldn't let me get it done so my bestie bought me a voucher for my bday.

it depends....mine swelled up a little (the first time, I've had it done twice now...the 2nd time it swelled up heaps), but if you don't smoke, drink and regularly clean it, it could be ok.

You might find you talk funny - either coz your tongue is swollen or it's just weird having something there so you get a bit of a lisp.

But in saying that, I was pretty stupid the first time I got mine done....it was the day before my major drama assessment and my class made up a twisted fairytale pantomime thing...we used the school grounds as our stage and moved around...and I was the narrator.  No one noticed I had just had my tongue done tho!

If you take it out too early, there's a chance it will close up.  You generally heal pretty quickly inside the mouth.
