  1. Major health problem. Air pollution does not limits to the type of toxic in air but also the acidic level of the air and the radiation level. Types of health problem is lung cancer, breathing difficulties, defects in birth and ultimately extinction of species.

    Humans are not the only victims of air pollution. If air pollution is mainly air borne particles, it will limit the sunlight receive. Therefore it will affect the growth of plants.

    Changes in climate can also be cause by air pollution. eg. global warming and thinning of ozone layer. The chain effect: air pollution - global warming and thinning of ozone layer - drought and flooding - change of landscape


  2. Air pollution is actually decreasing per person in the US.  The problem is the population increase.  Interestingly, during the greatest increases in pollution 1920-1980, life expectancy in the USA increased 20-30 years (these numbers are approximate from my memory).  There were many factors, but it shows air pollution on its own is not doom and gloom.
