What will happen if an insurance company that doesn't cover pit bulls finds one at your house?

  4. Getting canceled is the least of the potential problems. The REAL issue is what happens if the dog bites a kid. Your policy won't cover you due to "factual misrepresentation" if you lied about not having the dog when you bought the policy.

    Even if you buy the dog later you can still run across tons of problems.

    Insuring dogs like these is expensive for the dog owner, but it's cheaper than being sued or having to pay thousands of dollars of medical bills.

    Find a renters policy that covers the dog and pay the coverage, if you can find it. Trust me it's not worth skipping the insurance no matter how expensive it is. I have seen dog owners who didn't have coverage get stuck paying back hundreds of dollars a month, for years, because their dog bit some kid.
