  1. NEVER go without insurance.  On a new car, even if you don't drive it, it could be stolen, or vandalized, and you still have to pay for it.  Jeez, people make it difficult for themselves.  Either leave it the way it is, or get the new policy in place before you cancel.  If the company has provided proof of insurance to a lienholder, they probably won't cancel for you without proof of a new policy anyway.

    Also, a good resource is...

    Best of luck to you.

  2. All you have to do when you find another insurance company is when they ask you if your car is insured at that time, tell them no.  I did it all of the time when I had to switch.  They wont ask you who your last company was and have no way of knowing unless you tell them.  They really dont care about that stuff. But your last question, no you wont get a refund.  As soon as you make a payment to your policy then thats it, no returns.  Sorry.

  3. You said it yourself: "and must show proof of new insurance".

To get your pro-rated refund, you will have to prove that you have active insurance. Get the cheeper one, and cancel the current one with no lapse of coverage.

  4. It is taking a huge risk to drive uninsured.  I would not do it for any reason.  You never know what can happen.

  5. In Australia you replace the other persons car. This is why you contact the insurance company, and explain you will be a few days late.

  6. I think you should stay with what you have until you get the new one cause if you get stopped you can get a ticket and those things are way to much money!!!

  7. it loose both ways meanwhile when you are driving without insurance if something happen you loose all entitlement through insurance company and for taking new insurance you have to go through full process again like survey etc

  8. Its that murphy's law just because you don't have it something probably will and you still have to pay for the car I know it happend to me.

  9. You need to ask your agent these questions.

Usually a week's lapse won't affect your rates, but the lender is STILL going to put forced coverage on your car for that week.  Even if it takes them six months to figure it out, they'll nail you for the premium, usually $400 a month or so.

I don't know why you want to let the car go uninsured just for a week.  Why don't you get the new coverage in place today, cancel the old coverage effective today, and have no lapse in coverage?

  10. There is no absolutely answer for your question. However, explorer the information here will give you some ideas.HOpe it helps.http://car-insurance.online-tips.info/be...

  11. The insurance companies will raise your rate because you have a lapse in coverage.  Of course you have a grace period of a few days, usually 5, to make your payment on time.  If you change vehicles, you are still covered under your old policy for a few days as long as you are not past due.

  12. don't do it you can find a good price.... but i would have a good look at this site for some advice on cheap insurance..

  13. Nothing unless you get in an accident or pulled over. I live in Texas and it's a pretty big fine here and you lose your drivers license.
