If plasma membrane stopped working, well, anything can go in and out of the cell, without permisson. Because of this, the cell would be prone to foreign substances. There would be also no balance in the nutrients in the cell.

uh the cell would die. if you had unmitigated ion/water flow the cell would burst or die among many other things. The cell would also die from loss of nutrients. if this did indeed happen however the cell would most likely be marked for apoptosis, which is programmed cell death
