an egg cell from say a dog and sperm cell from human join together, would it become fertilized... and why...

no. it would nt become fertilized

before entering in egg cell , sperm cells attach with egg cell by fertilizin-antifertilizin mechanism.....fertilizin stay in the jelly like membrane of egg cell n sperm cells have antifertilizin......via fertilizin-antifertilizin temporary bond sperms attached with egg cell... it is called lock n key system........

both these fertilizin n antifertilizin are species specific....two different fertilizin n antifertilizin from two different speicies will nt go through lock n key system......
