You take your telephone wires coming into your house and put them into the AC Power outlet and turn ON the AC power switch.

The telephone line voltage is approx 48V DC and AC power voltage is 110V / 230V AC. This question is purely technical and PLEASE DO NOT try this at home.

Thanks.

  1. You don't need a "real technical answer", you're trying to send electricity down a wire that's not designed to carry it. It could hurt not only the phone company's equipment but also the lineman trying to find and fix any problem you might cause. The consequences could be anything from a lawsuit to an attempted murder charge or worse.

  2. You could do a lot of damage to the phone lines, telco amplifiers along the phone lines, and other customers phones.  This could cost the phone company a lot of money to repair.  Enough so they would spend a lot of time and money to find the source of this problem.  I'm glad you not really thinking of doing this as the phone company would certainly seek damages.
