What will happen to Michael Phelps after the 2008 Olympics are over?

Will he fade away into the general public (not the people who stay active or into the sport) like many Olympians do until the next Olympics?

Will he still stay a "celebrity"?

What's your opinion?

  1. hes going back to baltimore, hes my grandmothers neighbor. i know him :]

  2. No, swimmers don't have that kind of staying power.  If I were him, I would retire in glory. But if athletes love what they're doing, they'd stick with it until they physically can't.

  3. According to the interview on NBC he'll relax for a few months then start swimming again.

I think he will "Will he fade away into the general public (not the people who stay active or into the sport) like many Olympians do until the next Olympics."

  4. That guys a feaking FISH I think we will see him again in four years!

And I think he will make alot more money than he has before because this year more people have found out about him than ever before!

  5. isnt he going to start some kind of michael phelps foundation? he is going to try and get more young people involve in swimming.

  6. Hello,

As always happens with the Olympic gold medal athletes their money making star shines for a year or two and then fades quickly.

Simply because they are not in the limelight enough. Lets face it America loves Football, Basketball and Baseball. Until Tiger Woods arrived on the scene most Americans could not name the top three PGA golfers and they still can't but, they know Tiger Woods name-- right?

In any case Michael Phelps currently has over 5 million dollars in endorsement and has been a millionaire since age 18. The current level of endorsement should yield him at least 5o million dollars.

    So I guess he's ok! ;-)

I hope this helps. I listed my sources below. Some excellent web sites, by the way.
