  1. Not much, unless you miss a required physical, advancement exam, or fitness test.  If you miss an entire drill weekend, without any notification, you will be given unauthorized absences for four drills, as there are four drill periods per weekend.  Once a reservist reaches nine unauthorized absences, they are processed out of the Navy Reserve.

If you miss any drill periods and do not make them up, you will not be paid; reservists only receive drill pay for drills actually attended.  Missed drills can be rescheduled for days during the week or on make-up weekends.  You can request authorized absences for missed drills, but you need to complete forty drill periods (20 days/10 weekends) in order to have a qualifying year.

My advice is that if you are going to miss drills, notify your unit chain of command (not the NOSC staff).

  2. you better have a d**n good reason for doing so and you will have to make it up somehow.  It's far better to make arrangements ahead of time then to just not show..THAT will be considered UA.

  3. I would contact your unit explain the situation and make arrangements to make up your drill on another week end or during the week so you don't lose pay. I think you have to miss 3 drills before you can be released by the unit.

  4. Your CO could call the police and a warrant would be issued for your arrest.

In the NG, you can SUTA.  Why not call and ask?  It's better to be honest and just ask for the time off.  Cuz if you're found out, you'll lose trust and respect from those in charge.

  5. You probably would never miss another one. You go from brig to drill. LOL
