What will happen to the metal tally in america ??

now China has 67 medals in total, the same as USA, which country will be on top of the metal tally in america?

The US has had a good run in the last three Olympics thanks to  the break up of the Soviet Union. Before that the only time they came top was in the boycotted 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and in 1948, 1956, 1964 and 1968 and the pre-war era. China is the new world power in the sporting arena, its booming economy mixed with Soviet style selection of potential olympic winners as children, they look to be the dominant olympic nation for this millenium.

USA of course, don't you know that Silver and Bronze are more valuable than Gold? American always sort the tally by silver and bronze, it is the problem of the rest of the world which sort the tally by Gold and Total.  

Frankly speaking, I think most Americans are reasonable people and will tell the real different. It is the US broadcaster who are trying to create drama and pump up rating, and teenagers brainwashed by TV commentators to make it worst.

Come on guys and I mean all of you.Make peace and not war.Who cares about all the medals.Maybe they should start a sticker system for the next olympics.If you win you get a sticker and that is it.The country that has the most amount of stickers wins.It should be the same amount of stickers for 1st,2nd and 3rd place.I am not sure how many countries would still compete if they scraped the medal system.

OK, one to answer whatever that second guy's question...yes, we actually do know where China is.  And if you want the historical breakdown, I can give it to you.  Better yet, do you want me to answer that question for you in Chinese, because I can.  Believe it or not, some Americans are SMART!!  I know, unbelieveable right?  Do you need me to help you pick your jaw up off the floor??  

Don't let our president influence you to believe that every American's IQ is that of a cucumber.  And believe us, we are praying that November comes quickly so we can elect someone new, and then we will be praying for January to show up so we can kick Bush out of the White House and gladly put someone new in there!

I know everyone is thrilled over America not being 1st in the medal tallies anymore.  And yes, as an American, I'm not thrilled with it...my whole life America has always come out on top, and now what?!?  But hey, you win some you lose some, and I still support my country.  

That is the true spirit of the Olympics:  supporting your countrymen and showing pride for your country whether they don't win any medals or sit atop the medal tallies at the closing ceremony.

The U.S. will most likely be able to win enough medals in athletics to win the most medals overall.  They are 1-2 favorites to win the most, but they will probably have to concede the gold medal count to China.

Whichever country ends up with the most medals. Simple as that. You can't exactly fake the number of medals a country wins, can you? Of course, we all know China has the most GOLD medals, and that is not likely to be beaten by America or anyone else.

u should be proud that australia is in the top 10 (and top 5) at the moment, and accept that china is unreachable at these games. we should also be aware that the uk is excelling in beijing as well.

and yes, the way the medal tally is being reported on nbc is ridiculously biased and misleading.

and another country wins 1 gold only, who wins then ?

how could anyone suggest 1 gold is better than 10 silver ?

the simple answer is :-

3 pts for gold

2 pts for silver

1 pt  for bronze

which would put us aussies back into 3rd as it stands :-)

I always enjoy these international whinefests.  Unelss you're Chinese, your country is holding the wet end of the stick no matter which way they tally it, and unless you're American, we couldn't care less what you think.  We don't have to.
