  1. people will finly learn that they should have been taking care of the earth and not worring about that lasted gadget or hand bag or shoes.

  2. You need to be a bit more specific in your question, Kevin.  What exactly do you mean by resources?

Which of the following is a resource:

    Oil or water,

    natural gas or air,

    coal or food.

Do you mean that resources are sources of fuel or sources of life?

  3. we will never use all of our resources. We will kill ourselves before then. The real problem is not "using up" resources as much as the emissions from using carbon based fuels. We will destroy the atmosphere with CO2 and sulpher dioxide so that we cannot breath it before we use all the fossil fuels. Everything on Earth is a resource, water, rocks, trees, soil stc.

How long is difficult to answer, this depends on how we manage/mismanage our resources. As one resources is exploited others are just on the horizon and others have been forgotten because they were less efficient.

What will happen again depends on action taken now and in the future, I am sure that wars will be fought over water, fuel, ariable land, living space, and of course mans greatest driving force 'GREED'. I am so glad that I will not be here then, mankind will be at his all time lowest.

Sorry the outlook is so grim but maybe someone like you can persuade people to give up wasteful ways and engineer new technologies that do not destroy our only inhabitibal planet. Renewable energies is a good starting point.

  4. It won't be in your lifetime. After mining the landfill, we'll be back in the stoneage. This is why permaculture is so interesting, it respects the true value of resources.

Happiness is not dependant on material wealth.

  5. cannibalism

  6. It will only happen in thousands of years or millions, if we're smart and preserve our resources. Of course, when our resources do run out, we'll either have to escape to a new planet, or die.

  7. Forever.

We'll get new sources of energy.  We'll recycle.

Life may not be quite as easy as when fossil fuels were cheap.  Or it may be easier, depending on how good we are at finding really advanced solutions like fusion.

But we'll never "run out of resources".  It's a big universe and Earth is tiny.

  8. The planet will force us to think of alternative sources.

  9. We will dig into our old landfills and extract all the plastic and things we threw away that never rot.

  10. What will happen?  Look at the most impoversished nations.  There will be poverty, starvation, disease and endless warfare.  It will be a struggle for our very existance.

As long as people keep overpopulating the planet, and destroying everything that gets in the way - we may very well face our own self-inflicted extinction.

Life is finite.  So is our sun.  Eventually it will burn out, but not before expanding and turning our planet to cinder.

When will it happen?  Who knows?  I'm guessing that humans will destroy our planet, or use up it's resources before our sun goes supernova.  I hope I'm dead by then.

Our planet is nothing more than a huge terrarium.  Too hot, too cold, too poluted, too many destructive organisms (us), not enough space, light or food ...eventually it will fail completely.

The earth that we destroy today will be the burden of our descendants.  Unfortunately, most people are unaware,  unconcerned or not willing to be inconvenienced, by the impact they cause in their daily lives.  Most don't care about tomorrow, let alone the tomorrows of their children.

  11. Water will never run out.

Coal will run out in 500 years.

Oil will run out in 100 years.

When one resource runs out we will find others, or invent replacements. You need to have faith in our abilities to adapt. Give up the gloom and doom pessimism and roll up your sleeves and get to work inventing the future with optimism and a willingness to work at finding better ways to live. Continuous improvement.

  12. R.E.M. - It's The End Of The World seems to explain what will happen when we use up all our resources not "recources"

  13. Where will all the resources go to? I see stuff about disappearing resources and don't know where they go to. Does anyone know where all that stuff goes to and when it will be all gone?

  14. Well, after running out of "recources", you might consider using resources instead...

  15. We will think of alternatives.
