What will help my 12 year old sister sleep?

she is up really late when she wants to be sleeping and needs help

  1. Your sister is young, one thing you can look at is her diet-children can be very sensitive to foods that have addictives, sugar or caffeine and this could be stopping her sleeping.

    She should be encouraged to wind down when its near bedtime and avoiding doing things that will stimulate her mind like watching tv and surfing the net. Things like a a bath with lavender oil and a cup of hot chocolate will be much more relaxing.

    Being active in the day will help ensure she's tired out when nightime comes, if your sister isnt into sport then even going for a nice long walk with her some late afternoons could help.

    It may be helpful to check if your sister has any worries on her mind, maybe to do with school as if she does this could affect her sleep.

    If the problem persists its probably best to get your parents to take her to the dr for help.

  3. I have a 8 year old ADHD child, and her doc suggested banadryl, or another form of allergy, med in the liquid form. Make sure it isn't the non-drowsy kind. it works for her, I buy the cheap stuff.
