  1. Awsome AKT...thanks for the steps to fix it!

  2. The procedure listed here works!  I had problems with the hyperlink, too, although it is correct.  The page does not open in Firefox 2.0.0.16 but works in I.E. 7.0.  May work in Firefox 3.0, which I have not yet installed.

Under the Firefox browser, I removed the ww. that appears before the download-update and that took me to a page that provided a link.  You may have to go to http://www.grisoft.com/download-updat... and then click on the Update AVG - 270.6.4/1616 to go to the correct webpage.  Or try using I.E.

Thanks to all who provided the info!  I had already uninstalled and reinstalled AVG 8.0 to try to resolve -- without any success -- so I appreciate the simple resolution.

  3. In the late evening of 17 aug 08 the same problem on 2 computers.

I have installed most recent version after reset the computer to a date one month ago. Nothing helped.

I tried to reacht www.free_avg.....etc help.  Is difficult or not to reach.

Would it not be a problem at the Grisoft server?

  4. i dint know

  5. this procedure works!

    1) go to http://www.grisoft.com/ww.download-updat...

    2) make a directory (new folder) on your desktop called AVG

    3) from the website, download AVI: 270.6.4 (right click and save target as)

    4) from the website, download IAVI: / 1616 (right click and save target as)

    5) Save the files to newly created AVG folder

    6) double click on your AVG systray icon

    7) On menu bar (top) > select tools > update from directory

    8) select the directory called AVG where you put the downloads

    9) As soon as you click that folder, your updates will start and will be complete! :)

    Thanks AKT!!! =)

This is the problem every one is facing right now...

  7. Same problem I just asked about-strange isn't it?????????

  8. My avg 8.0 is doing the same thing. I tried updating it, but that didn't work.

  9. For some reason this solution is not working for me.  When I click on the link AKT provided I get a, "Requested page not found" error from AVG.  Searching for the listed files on AVG's site also yields no positive results.  Obviously these steps worked for someone within the last 2 minutes, so what am I doing wrong?

<edit> google is my friend - this link has a link that works: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthrea... </edit>
