  1. Do check the link above - and look for your occupation as some jobs (such as journalism) mean you are not eligible for the visa waiver program.

    If you've ever had a conviction (even 1 that is considered "spent" in the UK) you are not eligible, either.

    Dread to think what happens if you're a convicted writer!

  2. Just your British passport and you will get 90 days visa on your entry to the US.

Just your passport.  The U.K. is on the visa waiver list for the U.S. so you do not need a visa for a visit of up to 90 days.  If you need to stay longer or conduct business, you will need to apply for a visa before leaving England.  You can see the site below to read about the visa waiver program.
