  1. Basically the same digital TV, which you get from a cable or satellite coverter box, or a digital-ready TV, has a minimally better picture and sound then analog TV. If you listen to the radio you may have noticed some stations announce they now have a digital signal but can you really tell the difference in the sound. side by side the picture will also be similar. One thing about digital TV when your signal is low the picture will go out there is no in between its 100% or 0%. like with analog signals when the signal is bad because or your wiring or connections you will get a grainy picture or snowy picture. Digital will begin to break up like a checker board and then go out

  2. You only need a TV capable of receiving a digital signal. If you are currently connected to cable or satellite then there is no reason to upgrade. If you are receiving your television signals via the airwaves "antenna" then you only need to purchase a digital to analog converter box. Which costs about $80.00. And in the US the government is giving out coupons for $40.00 off. Hope this helps with  your concerns.
