  1. Trust me your body will do what it needs to if it can when the time comes just wait and see.

  2. The great thing about babies is that they are really small. The body is an amazing thing and it is designed to do this. Just trust your body and stay relaxed - you'll be alright.

During labour your pelvis and tailbone will bend and stretch to make room for your baby. Especially if you use good, gravity assisted positions during labour.

Your babys' head will change shape to fit through your pelvis (the actual skull bones are really flexible). Sometimes they come out looking like little cone heads! Very cute, and thankfully not permanent.

Talk to your midwife, she can probably give you a demo with a little doll and a plastic pelvis. It's a great visual to bear in mind while you're in labour.

Also ask her if she has any birth videos you can watch. Very good preparation.

Because you are so young and I'm not sure what kind of support you will have for the birth I've listed a couple of websites where you can find a doula (a birth companion). A doula's job is too prepare you for and to support you the whole way through the birth. For someone in your situation you could probably even acquire her services for free.  (I'd do it for free if you were my client)

Good luck and happy birthing to you. You can do it!

  3. If your midwife hasn't said anything yet then she does not plan on you having a c-section. Although anything is possible, there could be complications during labor that call for you to have a c-section. Most likely you will be delivering naturally

  4. Every woman in my family has a very very narrow pelvis. As do I. The only one who had to have a c-section is my mother in law. My son also has a large head. But he is somehow making his way down! We thought for sure I would have to have a c-section. But it is looking as if I will have him naturally.

I think you can do it.. If I can.. At 36 weeks my sons head measured 39!!

    Oh and I am 17

Dont listen to people who say your body isnt ready when your 15. If you have your period your ready. Shoot look at the people in india having kids at 13.

  5. you pelvis will open up and allow the baby to come out. Wait unitll you closer to 40 weeks and see if you daughter has dropped it not you chances of have a c-section are higher then is she has. Your size has nothing to do with have a c-section or not. Your age might becuase you are still going through puberty but im not sure.

  6. I have a friend who had her first kid at the age of 16 and she had it naturally with no problems at all.  She now has four kids and didn't have a single problem with any of them.  And she is 4'9" tall and weighs like 70 something pounds!! She wears a size 10 in girls clothes, if even that!!  I wouldn't worry about it too much.  When the time comes, you will do what you have to do.   :)

  7. i dont think it has something to do with the size of hips atleast, never heard of that....there are other reasons that can lead to c-section.even i would love to have a normal birth!good luck to u!

  8. There is NO way on earth to know. Our bodies are made for this,.. well not at your age, but they are made for birthing babies. You won't know till you're there.

    sorry kiddo hang in there

  9. Our bodies are amazingly adaptable, your size shouldn't stop you from being able to deliver naturally.

  10. It's not how big your hips are, but how big your pelvis is.  It is VERY uncommon for your body to grow a baby that is too big.  From everything I've read, teenagers tend to have an easier time giving birth.  Chances are, you will be fine.

  11. Your hips will spread and make room for the baby to pass through... 15 is a really young age to be having a baby and it will probably be very hard on your body. I would be prepared for either delivery.

    Good Luck!

  12. Your best bet is to discuss this with your midwife.  So much depends upon the size of the baby vs the size of your hips.  She would know the specifics of your situation much more than we would.

If there is a c-section, she will not do it - a surgeon is required.  I can understand wanting to have a natural birth (I had wanted one, too).  However, keep in mind that c-sections are performed so often these days, they are almost fool-proof.  Even if it is decided at the last moment that you need a c-section (like me), don't worry about it.  Just knowing that you have a safe, healthy baby at the end of a long pregnancy is reward in and of itself.

Since this topic hasn't come up between you and your midwife yet, you might want to talk with her about a birth plan.  You can find examples online at websites like www.birthplan.com.  A birth plan spells out your wishes for the entire delivery.  By going over it ahead of time with your midwife, you are more assured that something doesn't get missed when it is time to deliver.

Good luck to you, and may you have a healthy delivery!

  13. If your midwife hasn't mentioned it, she is planning for this to be a vaginal birth.  Most midwives do unless they also have a doctoral degree.  But as far as size I've heard of 6' tall women having trouble giving birth to 6 lb babies and I've heard of 4' 11" tall women having no trouble with 9 lb babies.  I'm thinking you'll have this one naturally unless complications arise during delivery.  Good luck I hope everything goes well!
