What will it take?

This is it folks. We humans are now sowing the seeds of what LIFE will be like on our planet for the next few millions of years. The problems and challenges created by modern human industrialization, ignorance and selfish consumption are huge, and are now potentially about to get much worse: global warming, sea levels rising, mass species extinctions, deforestation, desertification, air and water pollution, overpopulation, the ozone hole, lack of clean drinking water, etc.. It won't be easy to change course, and turn our globalized civilization around, but we can do it, and must do it, for the sake of our children, grandchildren, all the animals and all future generations of life forms. It's up to us. This is the time, we are the people. Prayers and meditation are not enough. It's the collective actions of all human beings that will shape the future for a long, long, time...

  1. It will take:

    1. a democrat in the whitehouse, with both houses supporting him or her

    2. an increasing number of massive catastrophies every year - like Katrina or France '03, only worse.

    3. an intense and continuous education programme to drown out the anti-science idiots,

    4. a miracle

I think that when deaths from climate-related disasters reach 100 million a year, and at least 1 million of those are in the affluent west, people will finally start to see where their best interest lies, and accelerate towards a fossil fuel-free world.
