Question:

What will it take to convince people Global Warming is real??

In 2006 TIME/ABC/Stanford Univ. poll found 85% of Americans believe that this is happening. 88% thought warming threatens future generations. The IPCC and the international scientific community have reached a consensus. Even the American Association of Petrol. Geologists has come around and stated that this is "possibly" caused in part by human activity (they were the last full blown denier of this possibility with any scientific credibility). So, other than the clouds parting and God telling people to get their act together and take action, in your view what will it take to convince the last 15% of American that we are facing a real problem??

  1. It'll take a flood then some, but that 15% is just not facing the truth humanity isn't going to last that long if we continue living like we do.

  2. when the earth stops cooling and actually starts warming!!

Did you happen to catch this Newseek article about the cooling world???

  3. What it would take for me to believe, is it for to be real.  For it not to have been the coldest winter on record for the last 100 years.  For it not to have been warmer in the middle ages.

Global Warming is a hoax made by Al Gore who buys Carbon Credits from HIMSELF.

Global Warming is a money making machine, forcing people to have to put mercury laden lightbulbs in their homes.

Yeah, to convince me it's real, would be to prove that it's real.  It's a left-wing con job that has most of the country in its grip.

  4. And yet the UN meteorologist have predicted that this year would be colder than last year and we haven't had an increase in global temperature since 1998, that's ten years, one whole decade without an increase in global temperature. How can anyone believe that global warming is man-made? There have always been changing climates and we are just going through another one. It is pure hubris to think that you or I could do anything to affect the climate. The greatest influence on our climate is that big yellow ball in the sky, you know the Sun. And the Sun has been hotter, throwing off more radiation and bombarding the Earth with more energy, thus raising the temperature of the Earth by one degree Celsius in one hundred years. You are like Chicken Little, running around screaming "The sky is falling, the sky is falling." Quit being an alarmist and just settle down.

  5. More deaths ,Famine and the price of beer going up because of water shortage might do it .

But there still will be people with their heads in the sand

and even when their back side is on fire they still wont believe it is happening.

Already we have many disasters world wide which many prefer to ignore

  6. Regarding "What will it take to convince people Global Warming is real??"

How about when REAL, UNBIASED AND UNTAINTED scientific proof comes out?  Until then, there is no way you will convince me because the science doesn't nor will it support the myth of man made g/w.

  7. The world itself is already telling everyone. The delay of the climate.

  8. Physical violence. I wouldn't recommend it, but that's your answer. People won't believe evolution either even though that is completely proven. Nothing would change their minds. For the conservative deniers you could easily change their minds by offering them a bunch of money or lowering their taxes to believe it. They'd change their minds overnight. But outside of that, physical violence.

  9. What will it take? The truth

  10. You will never convince me because I know it's not. I think a majority also thought the earth was flat.

  11. where i live, no more record cold and snow.

  12. How about something more than a theory!!!

  13. global warming is a reality, sadly but true. there are already many, MANY people saying it is real and are trying to take measures to slow it down(as we are in a critical stage right now). yet i believe it will only be accepted when leaders of the world actually do something major about it by changing their own country and not only TALKING about it on the media.

  14. First of all even if it were happening, it would have to be proven that we as humans have an impact, and the truth of the matter is, we dont.

  15. global warming is a problem along with a multitude of other ones ... get a grip on the reality... this earth is on its way out... and why not... with all the corruption, evil things... children starving , lies... you name it... God never intended for man to live like this but because of rebellion against His ways we are suffering consequences... there is a new earth coming and i am concerning myself with that hope... not to say i litter or disregard the environment etc but whatever we do is only a temporary help maybe ... what a shame

World Bank accused of climate change "hijack"

    By Ed Cropley

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Developing countries and environmental groups accused the World Bank on Friday of trying to seize control of the billions of dollars of aid that will be used to tackle climate change in the next four decades.

"The World Bank's foray into climate change has gone down like a lead balloon," Friends of the Earth campaigner Tom Picken said at the end of a major climate change conference in the Thai capital.

"Many countries and civil society have expressed outrage at the World Bank's attempted hijacking of real efforts to fund climate change efforts," he said.

Before they agree to any sort of restrictions on emissions of the greenhouse gases fuelling global warming, poor countries want firm commitments of billions of dollars in aid from their rich counterparts.

However, developing countries want climate change cash to be administered through the existing United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC), which they feel is much less under the control of the Group of 8 (G8) richest countries.

"Generally we have been unpleasantly surprised by the funds," said Ana Maria Kleymeyer, Argentina's lead negotiator at the meeting.

"This is a way for the World Bank and its donor members to get credit back home for putting money into climate change in a way that's not transparent, that doesn't involve developing countries and that ignores the UNFCC process," she said.

U.S. experts will stage climate war game

    http://www.upi.com/International_Securit...

"U.S. foreign affairs and military experts will stage a war game this summer to study and highlight the national security threats posed by global warming.

The exercise, being staged by a coalition of seven think tanks and other non-profits called the Climate Change Consortium, will get technical assistance from the U.S. National Laboratory at Oak Ridge, Tenn., a statement from the organizers said Tuesday.

It said the exercise would be held in Washington July 27-28 and would be the first of two."

Why is the government practicing deploying own troops on our own soil (which was banned by the Posse Comitatus Act in 1878 following the Civil War, which has quietly been dismantled in recent years)?  Here's one scenario that the Pentagon has studied for possible global riots and anarchy in about 12 years:

    http://www.commondreams.org/headlines04/...

Already, according to Randall and Schwartz, the planet is carrying a higher population than it can sustain. By 2020 'catastrophic' shortages of water and energy supply will become increasingly harder to overcome, plunging the planet into war. They warn that 8,200 years ago climatic conditions brought widespread crop failure, famine, disease and mass migration of populations that could soon be repeated.

Randall told The Observer that the potential ramifications of rapid climate change would create global chaos. 'This is depressing stuff,' he said. 'It is a national security threat that is unique because there is no enemy to point your guns at and we have no control over the threat.'

Randall added that it was already possibly too late to prevent a disaster happening. 'We don't know exactly where we are in the process. It could start tomorrow and we would not know for another five years,' he said.

'The consequences for some nations of the climate change are unbelievable. It seems obvious that cutting the use of fossil fuels would be worthwhile.'

    ---

The Pentagon isn't saying that it's the most likely scenario for 2020, but they don't seem convinced that we have the will to adequately reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of the two largest sources, China and the U.S., so we do may have a fairly bleak outlook for the future, whether it's 2020 or some other date.

Amazing a few strong lobbies (oil, coal, and auto manufacturers) can delay our response to an issue of this magnitude.  It has nothing to do with the few remaining skeptics (now down to 6% of the polulation).  It's all about corruption.  We need some tobacco and Enron-style trials for the corporate crooks engineering our demise, with treason trials for the politicians accepting the payoffs and delaying our response.

  21. Just let us know if it will be warmer or colder 5 years from now, and show us how you came to your conclusion.

If you're right, who would be able to argue with you?

Right now, everyone is just guessing.  No one knows what the climate will be in the future.  h**l, Dr. Stephen Hawking believes it's going to be 450 degrees and raining sulfuric acid in our lifetime.

He has to be right.  After all, who's smarter than Dr. Hawking?
