What will my cat do when she is permanently separated from her kittens?

My cat gave birth 2 weeks ago to 5 kittens , and i know its a while before they are to be sold , but i want to be prepared for what to do.

What will she do when they are sold , will she mope ?? i really dont know and i want advice from cat owners who have been through this stage. I want to be prepared cause i love my cat and i want the best for her. I'd love to keep a kitten but i cant.

Can someone please at least suggest what her behaviour will be like and how long it will last?? Thanks a bunch XOX

She may look for them for a little while, and mope..but she will get over it.  She will need lots of love and attention, not to mention a trip to the vet, to be spayed :)

Actually, when our cat had kittens ( she was a rescue, and pregnant when we adopted her. As she was pregnant when our ASPCA found her abandoned ) we gave all 7 of them away at 8 weeks old.

She didn't mope, nor go "looking" around the house for them.

Infact, she seemed pretty relieved to have them out of her hair ( well fur that is LOL! ).

Sorry that you can not keep one of the kittens.

Have fun playing with them while you can!

She will wine and meow for about 3 -5 days and then it will be over. PLEASE KNOW THAT SHE WILL BE GOING INTO HEAT ANY DAY NOW! IF YOU DON'T WANT MORE KITTENS, CONTACT YOU RLOCAL HUMANE SOCIETY TO HAVE HER SPAYED. CATS CAN GO INTO HEAT 3 DAYS AFTER DELIVERY BUT USUALLY 4-6 WKS AFTER.   She may also be more lovign b/c she's missing her kittens. Cats are not like humans though b/c as soonas they get preggers again they turn on their kittens and hiss at them all the time. I have 12 cats  and the Momma..Grandma to them don't like them! They are all fixed now..thank goodness!  Good luck to you ; )

cats usually 'abandon' kittens after a while anyway (once mom has taught them how to groom / hunt etc)

i just cant rem how long it takes as this happened some years back now :s
