How upsetting would it be if none of the aliens converted and they even made fun of some religions on their TV shows?

  1. As with all views there will undoubtedly be some adjustment for validation of new information coming to light to fit their perspective of "the grand scheme"

Surely there will be those who will find some reference obscure or otherwise expletive's in the "good book"

While all organizations will undergo countless hours of discussion to classify and grade visitors of advanced or alternate civilizations, an amalgam of accepted or at minimum (majority rules) perspectives, while attempting to remain on the fence, which will allow some maneuvering room later when more information comes to light.

    Back peddling is so distasteful.

  2. Aliens are not going to visit earth because they are waiting for us to blow ourselves up.  That's why they gave us the bomb.  Then they can have the planet all to themselves.

  3. I guess it is the biggest problems that could stop a disclosure of the discovery of an Alien lifeform... Religions are just not the open institutions, that will accept their presence so easily!

In the past it has motivates numerous wars, and I guess it will be no different in the case of an Alien existance is proven! Every religion will try to increase its political position, by trying to convert 1 Alien to their religion, and will claim victory over all the others.... How upsetting this could become if it happens! It is why, if Aliens exist, only few humans will know about it, and it may already be the case!!

  4. Perhaps God only allows interstellar travel to non-believers, so that they can be 'brainwashed' wherever they happen to land.

Or maybe God will send them to tell us that we've got it all wrong and they will annihilate us if we don't stop annihlating each other.

On the other hand, if they are true scientists, they may be agnostic.

But what if 'they' are God?

  5. In truth, by the time the two species learned to understand each other well enough that we could recognize their religious concepts, our society would already have been so transformed by their arrival that the question would probably not even be necessary.

But for the purpose of this question, I'll assume you're talking about a scenario you're more likely to see through the airwaves (i.e., "Star Trek" broadcasts) rather than the airWAYS. I'm also going to assume you're referencing more "fervent" believers, as I'm sure the bulk of religious people won't view the situation all that much differently than most non-religious people.

For the True Believer, I'm pretty sure many of them will go with the notion that God revealed different things to them than to us based on the differences in our created nature and perhaps the necessities of each organism's environment. Some will probably go ballistic and try to kill as many aliens as they can, or perhaps even start a war with them. Others will come to think that they've been wrong all this time - this group will further split between those who commit suicide, those who sink into a lifelong depression, and those who adapt and realize how truly free the realization has made them.

  6. I suppose the organized religions would strike out against these aliens through our current media.  Those in power 'shading' public opinion.  Oh yes! Big Brother is out there!

  7. Please note when I say 'aliens' I mean UFO.

Wow, where did this question came from?

    Sure you aren't an Alien?

    LOL, just kidding.

Well, if they don't speak our lanuage, I can see that this question might be the least of our worries if they decided to kill all humans. Remember the black and white movie about the book "How to serve man?". Humans thought it was a communication book. At the end, they found out it was a "Cook Book".  Scary, ins't it.

I can't believe that I am even answering this question.

I guess if they do speak our lanuage, some might change. Everyone have a choice and that include aliens.

The part you said about " they even made fun of some religions on their TV shows", there was a guy in my country who had done the same thing. The end results were that no one watched him and no one wanted him in their TV stations. I guess he was one of the aliens. LOL.

  8. Well, personally I dont believe in aliens why should believe in their religions... Well if it happens let say,,, I will stick to my religion(born again) whatever forceful things they do... I'm in the truth why should even think of scaping... I believe that even they kill me I will never turn off my religion.........

  9. probably the same thing they did with the people who continued to practice the old ways ...they call it witch craft and everyone and anyone who believes or practices it will be called heretics and put in some high tech stockades!!

  10. There are three approaches a missionary religion can take to aliens.

    (1) They are nonbelievers in need of conversion, just like human pagans.

    (2) They do not have souls.

    (3) God has a different arrangement for them than He has for man.

This is actually a pretty likely scenario if we meet aliens. Religion springs from an impulse to force order on a chaotic universe, one that most intelligences are likely to share. As for making fun of our religions, everybody's religion looks a little weird to outsiders.
