  1. wear out your shoes faster

  2. well, by my calculations in a year you'll be over 300 miles from home.....

  3. The best answer to your question will never be received with out knowing the answers to your current habits. For an example, what would be your definition of eating healthy?

Here is some general guidelines that would need tweaked based on your personal situation:

Every person is built different. One of the most common similarities among humans is that any working out that causes heart rate increase for 30 straight minutes increases the strength of your heart at the same time as burning fat. An added bonus is that the work out increases muscle strength with out bulk.

Eating right: This can change with the person. A common answer is not only what you eat but also how you eat it. Don't eat that "healthy" food in big doses. You can eat regular food (obviously not junk food) several times a day in smaller portions. Don't sit down and eat a huge meal in one setting. There are many reasons beyond this post. Simply put, don't eat more than you intend on burning before your next meal. Carbohydrates (carbs) are energy. You need them. But if you take in more carbs than you se, they turn to fat. If you use more energy than you do carbs, you convert fat into carbs (energy) and burn those off. You still need carbs to function cause the conversion from fat to energy takes to long for everyday needs. Since you wake up in the morning with low carbs in your system (used up from energy needs while sleeping like heart needs, breathing, moving, ect.), do your 30+ minutes work out and burn some extra fat. Make sure that you eat something high in protein afterwards and take in plenty of water. I wouldn't waste money on sport drinks or all of these other hyped items. Water is all that a person needs.

Again, everyone is different. In order to get your situation nailed down, you would need to either talk to a Personal trainer, do some research from many reliable sources for nutrition, or some trial and error. I recommend that you don't research at locations that like to promote their item. It's too bias. Read more from medical books that tell you how the system works and what affects the systems. Then you can piece it together rather easy.

Don't forget about swimming. This is a great work out and fun too. Always have fun in a work out or you won't do it.

Last but not least, it is your body. If you don't have the time to invest in it, like researching or working out, then live with what you got or will get.

Have a great day and good luck.

  4. It sounds like a really great weight-loss goal. As long as you burn off more calories than you intake you'll continue to lose weight. For every 3,500 calories you burn you'll lose a pound. Make sure you stay hydrated and run later in the day when its not as hot. If you sweat too much when you run you'll lose more muscle than fat. But I think running will definitely take care of the belly fat.

  5. It will make you healthier.  A mile will soon not be very far for you and you will need a longer distance.  You may want to extend that to at least 2 miles maybe up to 5 miles. You are looking to get about 30 minutes of exercise a day.  You may also want to alternate training days.

During the winter months you can always use a tread mill, there are always a few used ones for sale in the classifieds.

  6. Fat at 100 lbs where> running helps but hard on the body> Go to a gym and work your body not pounding it on the payment>

  7. Why are you asking this question to a bunch of boaters?  Do you actually think we would have any idea?

Personally, I like both Johndeere & Steplift answers... My girlfriend is like that... she weighs just a little more then nothing... she comes down to my boat (I live on my boat) and she runs 3 miles one way down the beach, and 3 miles back... and she does this every morning before she goes to work... I set on my deck with a cappachinno and before I finish my second cup - she's back.

Although she hasn't "lost" any weight doing this - I haven't gained any either... and I sure do enjoy my cappachinno a lot more then running...
