What will take tile glue off hardwood floor?

We are removing tile from a hardwood floor. What will remove the tile clue?

  1. difficult to imagine someone tiling over hardwood.  if the glue is hard, like cement you have to use one of those metal scrapers with long handle to chip it off.  any residue would have to be sanded off with a floor sanding machine.  good luck.


  2. a product named GOOF OFF will remove adhesives, available at most hardware stores and even your local wal-wart

  3. Milk, preferrably whole, will take off some of it.

  4. In my experience Goof Off will discolor your floor and require multiple fingerboning applications. Try a coarse sandpaper instead on a floor sander and then go to a fine sandpaper after the glue is gone. You'll lose 1/32" off your floor but it's worth it. Save your back and knuckles.

  5. Rent a sander, strip it & re-stain it.
