What will the Olympics venues in Beijing be used for after the Games are over?

I guess they wouldn't leave a couple of huge stadiums in the middle of the city completely unused, but does anyone know the specifics?

  1. China surely has plans for both the Bird's Nest and Water Cube, hoping to lease them to other countries and corporations for Olympic athlete training camps.

And Olympic sponsors would be fools for wasting $$$$ for use of either facility for athlete training.  Why?  The same reason China won't allow their own athletes to train in their own country: The poor air quality.

Every major Chinese metro city's air quality is seriously polluted and bad.  I'm frankly amazed Beijing's air quality cleared up during the Olympics!  But I'm told China sharply reduced vehicle traffic all over Beijing during the Games in efforts to keep the air clean.

Now that the Olympics are over, normal Beijing traffic will return---and with it the toxic dirty air.

I can see China open the Water Cube pool for public use; giving the public a chance to wade in the waters that made Olympic history.

Imagine the pool PACKED with Chinese......

.....until some prankster throws in that thick Baby Ruth candy bar!!!!

  2. I read the Olympic village will be sold to private buyers, the venues will be used for national sports training, not sure of the specifics though
