I find this whole subject really depressing. I thought we were supposed to be progressing with technology but all of a sudden we are going back in time because of the climate change theory.

Nowadays, a return flight from the UK to the US is more or less about £400. What will it be like in 5, 10.... years time?

Do you think we will be using alternative fueled aircraft any time soon?

  1. The future of air travel for the masses looks rather bleak,I well remember Blair who after imposing more taxes in an effort to save the planet declared that he would still be taking his long haul holidays. But we all know who paid for his holidays.

The answer maybe for us all to join this green lobby and fly around the globe attending conferences at every one else's expense.

  2. prices fluctuate each 3 months anyway! and you can get a cheaper deal if you book earlier or at diffrent airports.

but the fuel duty tax will go up. fuel and airport tax are always added to the ticket price. so you can get a ticket for as cheap as the tax'es are or a couple of £ on top if you book early enough!!

i got a ticket price to spain for £3 !! which went up to £190 when there was 2 weeks left to fly.

  3. I think we have seen the last days of cheap travel thats for sure.

We should really be cutting down on this anyway as the damage air travel causes, we need to seriously think about the future.

  4. Just today I read one of the major airlines is grounding some of there planes because of fuel costs. So instead of many different flights to everywhere, we will have less choices. Climate change has very little so far to do with the high cost of oil. It is the middle East that is being greedy with there oil supply. I do hope we can come up with an alternative fuel and not be so dependent on Middle East oil.

  5. Fking expensive

  6. Climate change has nowt to do with it. Its cos of the oil running out. Makes you laugh at all the people buying properties abroad thinking they can fly to them on cheap flights. Air travel will stay for the time being but i would guess that planes will get bigger and travel slower to conserve fuel. The airship may make a comback but with safe helium instead of hydrogen and the engines solar powered as its always sunny above the clouds in daytime ha ha.

There was a time not long ago when foreign holidays were taken by the rich minority not the masses. I can remember trying to find a space to lay my towel on Blackpool beach cos it was so crowded with holidaymakers but look at it now its empty. I think it will go full circle and UK resorts will take off again............that is presuming you can afford the petrol to get there.
