  2. Italy is a pennisula and its weather is affected by the fact that it is surrounded by the sea. The winter weather line crosses Italy north of Rome and south of Florence.  Florence is usually colder.  March in Florence: 50's.  Rome 60's, especially if the sun is out.

  3. we went at that time last year and brought layers and options for clothing.  the whole time we needed pants, but some days we needed heavier coats and gloves, others we need light layers.  i would also bring an umbrella or hat and jacket that can be worn in the rain.  it did rain quite a bit during our time there.  part of the time it was beautifully clear and sunny, others overcast and might rain.  but overall it was in the 40-50s and made walking around everywhere quite pleasant.  if it is particulary cold, make good use of the subway in rome to beat the cold.

    have a wonderful trip!

  4. You should expect 40's and 50's. Rome is so amazing that you will forget the cold. Just layer up because you will do a lot of exploring on foot and outside. Remember gloves, scarfs & maube a hat too and you will do just fine. I always bring a mini umbrella as well, just in case of rain. Enjoy the journey!
