What will the weather be like in Sydney in October?

It'd be Spring during then. As the other user said. Sydney weather can vary widely but I would love to point out this isn't really true unless you're in the inland western suburbs, which have extreme weather, causing frost on lawns and such.

Sydney weather is unpredictable - it can be really hot one day and cool the next - in Sydney, at least.  However, Oct is one of the better months - not stinking hot and humid as it can be in Jan/Feb and shouldn't be too cold.  It is one of my favourite times of year in Sydney.

That said, if you are going as a tourist - you can pick good days for outside stuff (zoo, Opera House, Harbour Bridge climb) walking etc.  And on the not great weather days - there's the Aquarium, harbour cruises, shopping and more

It will be Spring time with the weather beginning to warm up. Pack a mixture of clothes. Something warm for first thing in the morning and stuff like t-shirts/shorts/jeans. Don't forget to pack a folding umbrella in case of rain.
