  1. I try not to retaliate, but rather just say, "Oooh-KAY!"  and look away.  This puts the attention back on the offender and makes them feel uncomfortable.

If I retaliate, then it gives the offender an opportunity to play the victim and make me look bad when she is the one who started it.  It's best to down play it.  Never forget though!   Fool me once....

  2. I will assume that this is freedom of speech

  3. Don't act mad, and if you are really offended, then just say, 'Okay' in a calm manner and walk away as like how you would do as if there was nothing that was bothering you. Just ignore the offender, and simply walk away.

Or, you could not act mad, and walk away without saying anything. Have a smile or a normal face on your face, not a hint of a frown or mad reaction.

That's just my opinion, though, so if you think that something else is better to do, then just go for it. But if it hurts when you get offended, then don't worry. It's just THEIR opinion, and it's probably not true what they think. The reason for offenders to offend other people could be because they're jealous, but there are other reasons too. So don't get offended, and if you do, don't show it, or else that offender could say something again to you.

  4. Try my best to respond with dignity, such as saying "That's your opinion" and simply walking away.

I have found that if someone is rude, becoming irate myself only increases the level of tension.

The person with the cool head continues to make sensible decisions, the hot headed person risks behaving like a fool.

    Cheers :-)

  5. I haven't been insulted in public fortunately, but depending on the situation, I would either insult them back, or ignore them like I didn't even hear them

  6. Depends on the insult...Sometimes a simple "I am sorry" makes the insulter look small...other times I just ignore it...The goal being to be the bigger person and not stoop to insulters level.

  7. I get overly polite, it makes the other person look really bad. i worked retail for almost 20years, so I have been insulted in public often. One customer once said F^you to me and I politely said next and proceeded to wait on the next customer in line. The customer got really mad and everyone else in line told he to stop being a fool. She left and looked ridiculous.

  8. Say "I'm made of rubber, you're made of glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you!"

    jk

  9. a mature person would shake his head and walk away with a chuckle.

i would give a big smile, say 'right back at you!', and give him the finger.

  10. How do you know that I will be insulted in public? Are you some kind of  psychic?

  11. `GO BACK TO YOUR COUNTRY!`

`YOU KNOW YOU ARE IN A WRONG PLACE!`

Those were the very common public insults I always met. Some

people thought they were borned in Australia. They judged others by the skin. But they never asked where were I born. So I asked them,

    "Where is your country?!"

The worse I`d ever met in the bar after a few drinks one of those big bullies with many tattoos simple drew punches right on my face. I`d had no choice but hit back. I slapped his balls and he kneeled right in front of me.

Someone asked how come a small guy like you can....?

The chillis, the smallest ones, the hottest.

  12. It depends entirely on the situation. Most of the time it's fine and can be remedied with "sorry" or "oookaaay." Sometimes you have to stand up for yourself. If insult starts to become verbal abuse. Than you have to do something.

  13. To me it all depends on who is doing the insulting.

If I think it is of no relevance to me then I too will assume this is freedom of speech.

If it is in direct in your face conflict then I be the bigger person, apologize, offer my assistance to fix whatever is wrong, shake it off and get on with my day.

That is the way I think I will handle this if it ever happens.

  14. i run home and cry in a corner of my room.

    lol
