  1. PPI and bananas as they have high pottassium ,

  2. the best and latest available P.P.I. (proton pump inhibitor) currently is called Rabeprazole. it works within 7.2 min. in comparison to omeprazole and other similar group of the drug. the reason still remains the same as given by previous answerer. inhibits proton pump which are responsible for acid secretions.

  3. Prilosec OTC (omeprazole) is probably the best available non-prescription medication for reflux.  It is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) meaning that it blocks the hydrogen/potassium adenosine triphosphate enzyme system of the gastric parietal cells, and thus inhibits the release of hydrogen ions into the stomach and lowers the pH.  Prilosec is currently the only over the counter available PPI in America.  This class of drugs is quickly replacing H(2) receptor antagonists (such as Zantac and Pepcid) as they are being proved to be far more effective.  Prilosec's website, www.prilosecotc.com, has plenty of information, and you can also ask your local pharmacist if you have any further questions.
