  1. we will use bio fuel, electric cars (not necessarily powered by fuel cells) hydrogen cars.

there are plenty of options, but these are more expensive than conventional cars.

  2. There won't be much human life on the planet and work will be survival trying to find food or clean water. Any society we know will no longer exist. Have you heard of the acid rain in the Northeast? That is the toxic emissions being rained out of the atmosphere and it is poisoning newborns today. Yes we have reproductive problems in animals and humans.

  3. After oil runs out we can use coal. There are ways to make liquid fuels from coal. After coal runs out, we better have some replacement ready, because if we don't we will be back in the horse and buggy days. But since coal should last 500 years, we SHOULD have many better alternatives by then. Just look at how much progress has been made in the last 500 years. 500 years ago it was 1507!

  4. Er.. the earth is not going to run out of oil for a long, long time.

Yes, we will run out of the easy stuff... cheap, huge reservoirs of petroleum.  And we will have to tap the Canadian oil sands, the Wyoming oil shales, and use coal gasification and other technologies.  These technologies will be a little more expensive that current oil prices but are not that prohibitive.

Looking further up the horizon we will be making greater use of biofuels like ethanol and these can replace large amounts of petroleum.

We will not run out of oil, we will only be expanding our sources.

  5. We will make much greater use of renewable sources of energy such as windpower.

The current cost to produce one kilowatt hour of electricity by the use of wind power is approximately 4 cents (1) That is less than the cost of production by the use of natural gas for the same amount of electricity.

Electric cars will become more common as the technology for the batteries improves.

Life will improve much for the better when the oil runs out.

In fact we need a world wide ban on the use of oil anyway because of the production of greenhouse gases that cause Global Warming when we use oil.

Also, most of the terrorism is the world is funded by oil revenues from oil exporting nations.

If we could get a world wide ban on the use of oil, that would defund most of the terrorism in the world.

I cannot wait until we run out of oil if we have not succeeded in getting a world wide ban on the use of oil.

    .

  6. we never will run out of oil, it will be recycled and reformed through processes of cat cracking. all oil is, are long carbon chaines it can be made in a lab

  7. I'm gonna have some tree-trunk legs from riding my bicycle up and down a mountain every day!  My job is a good 20 miles from my house!

  8. My life will not be like much of anything since by the time the oil runs out  I will have been dust for a very long time.

  9. In our current market, the extremely high price of gasoline will simply make the high cost of alternate fuels and energy such as electricity or hydrogen seems completely feasible, allowing investment, research, and production of such alternative energies possible.

Also, the astronomical cost of housing will far outweigh the added cost of commuting over a distance to work.

The West is too attached to convenience to live just a few miles from work.

  10. You could also ask what will happen when we run out of places to keep horses in the ever growing cities.  You could also ask what will happen when we no longer have iron to build ever larger trains.

By the time the planet "runs out of oil," there will be other technologies in place to replace oil.  Necessity is the mother of invention.  Since it is already possible to replace oil, just not economically feasible, I do not see it as a problem.  As long as the sun shines, which is ultimately the source of all the energy on the planet, there will always be alternatives.

  11. In the Nineteenth Century people asked, what will we do when the supply of whale oil runs out?

Necessity is the mother of invention, and we humans have always been good at solving such problems.

If what Bob implies is correct, that there will never be a practical fuel supply other than fossil fuels, we're obviously going to run out sooner or later, no matter what.  But the nay-sayers have never been right in the past, and I don't think their track record will improve any time soon.

    May I suggest nuclear energy?

  12. As i work for a transportation company I would probably out of work if we ever ran out of oil

  13. It won't affect me at all.  I already use clean burning renewable American made E85 in both my vehicles.  And it's priced 30% cheaper than gasoline to boot.  Make the switch to ethanol, support your country in the process, and stop whining.

  14. My wife and my lifes' will be fine (we hope) because we bought a home close to downtown and work (where we can walk or ride our bikes to get around. Also we are planning on installing solar and wind generators that are grid assessable, along with energy efficiency improvements to our 1920's craftsman like gas filled windows and a passive solar sun-room.

It is true we will "never run out of oil", but we will run out of economically affordable oil.  Coal to liquid (CTL) is not an alternative either, very dirty stuff to make.

  15. It will pretty much suck at first but then things will get better we can survive it.

  16. Master-Blaster will run Barter Town!!

  17. LOL . What good is working a few miles from home ? What would you be working for . Who's going to get your products if there no way to get them to there destination. I'm not worried about all that anyway . For some reason allot of you people think that's all there is in this world is oil . Our technology is far more advanced then most people realize . Our schools are still teach physics that was around  a hundred years ago nothing new same old stuff going by a hundred year old teaching . I guess that's the way the system is set up to repress people and the only thing that i can see its all about money and how much they can keep sucking out of your account .

Stop worrying about all that c**p . Have a little faith in mankind not the system . Its all about to change . That's the reason this is all happening . Its all a big plan . You don't really believe there isn't a plan behind all this do you . Theirs a plan behind every thing that involves such a great mass
