What wire do I hook up an RCA converter to my factory radio (to my amp) in an 1996 Ford Explorer?

  1. Your LOC should be hooked up by a professional -

    But if you insist on doing it yourself, pull the radio out and look at the wires. (Some Explorers have Factory Amplifiers and you will NOT be able to do your LOC behind the radio)

    You will need to determine what wires are what.  For you to DIY at home, the easiest way is to pull apart your left rear (or right rear) door and pull out a speaker then write down the wire colors you see attached to it)

    Now go back to the front and look behind the radio for the same color wires.

    Your LOC has two sets of wires -

    -white and white/black

    -gray and gray/black

    Twist the white and the gray together and attach to one of the speaker wires behind the radio.

    Twist the White/Black and Gray/Black together and attach to the other speaker wire behind your radio.

    Voila - LOC installed.

    If you do not see the same wire colors behind your radio - or you find a green plug back there, go to a pro shop and ask for help.

    ...and bring cash.
