Question:

What wires should I feed when mounting a Plasma?

I am installing a plasma on a wall that is half sheetrock and half concrete (on the bottom) - so there is no fishing of wires. I have one chance to get it right before they close up the wall.

What wires should I have fed from the TV - down to my surround sound/Cable Box/DVD player? Right now I have a cable wire, an HDMI wire, a wire for PS3 and a monster cable for surround sound. Am I forgetting anything? Should I add any other cable for future upgrades?

Thx

  1. I would wire 2 HDMI cables and a Component cable as well and run them to where you are installing your AV equipment rack.

Note: It is fire code in many places that all the wires must have fireproof or CL3 insulation. Check your wires.

You can get away with a single HDMI cable if you have a receiver that offers HDMI switching, but a second cable is not too expensive. And component is pretty basic.

Get your cables from www.bluejeanscables.com  The prices are sane and the quality is very good. You should run some yellow nylon rope to the opening behind the TV so you can pull more cables later. It's cheep insurance.

Generally - the TV produces the video, but the audio is run through your receiver so you DONT install speaker wires to/from the TV.
