Question:

What wiring kits to choose?

Hi i have jus bought an amp and subwoofer, the amp is 900w (450w RMS) does it matter what wiring kit i choose because i saw some with like 1200w on the cases does this mean that if i chose a low wattage one then the cable would melt?

please help!!

  1. I always said to myself that I wouldn't bash anyone on here no matter how stupid they are.

    That being said, Jettaowner is an idiot. Saying that if the wiring is too big it won't work well is just stupid.

    When it comes to wiring the amp. Bigger is better. Not always necessary. But, better.

    As a rule, I don't recommend anything smaller that a 4 gauge wiring kit. When choosing a wiring kit get the biggest kit you can afford. A four gauge kit will work very well for your system.


  2. If you go to http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/wi... you can put in your amp's efficiency, the db rating, length of power and ground , the power you're expecting to run and lenght of speaker wire it will tell you what power wire to choose

  3. The lower wattage kits wont bump as good as if you get a larger one such as the 1200W kit, which i suggest you get. The wires should not melt if you use the lower ones but it cant be something ridiculous like 550W Kit. Something close to 900w will work.
