  1. for long life, pressure treated wood or Ipe or redwood(matters on where you live) at to the size of the wood a combination of 2x6 and 2x4 should be good.

  2. You WOOD need WOOD

  3. 2x4s, 4x8s, and plywood......

  4. HEAD down to your local building site, they have wood they pay people to get rid of it for them. you shouldn't have any problem getting free wood off them. make sure the wood you use is strong and not warped by weathering. You can test the wood by looking at it. if it is not dead straight, and seems bent, then the rain has got to it. my friends and i built a tree house 5ft x 7ft, we managed to fit 7 of us into it but that wasnt safe, 4ft x 6ft should be sufficient enough for three big 10 year old boys. all you really need is wood nails and a hammer (and some lemonade its thirsty work)

  5. looks like the question of timber has been answered. I'd suggest though that you use screws rather than nails. You can get pozi countersunk twinfast screws that are not only galv. but if the wood is wide enough won't need a pilot hole drilling. They will be easier to use aloft as nailing only works if there is something rigid to nail against. Also with screws you can remove bits and modify later if you want and they will pull all the bits to-gether too.

  6. First you need a tree. Lol…you don’t need to have the tree come through the middle of the house you can attach the house to the tree.

    1. Determine how high you want it.

    2. How big a floor area, do this (get everyone you want to fit in It to sit in an area and mark around them.

    3. What shape you want it. Square or rectangular is simplest.

    4. Depending on the size of the tree house will determine the size of timbers needed. I would recommend for the floor beam support to use at least 2 x 4 or 50x100mm treated timber. This would be for an area of 6’ x 6’.

    5. you will need supports for the floor, use at least 100x100mm or 4” x 4” posts bolt these to the floor beams using galvanised bolts.

    6. If you build an area of 6x6 floor try and incorporate the out side edge of it around the tree if there is a support on the tree you can use.

    7. Put a post in each corner

    8. when you have the out side beams and post in place fix additional beams at 2 foot centres so from one side to the other you should have 4 beams with another two beams on each end.

    9. Lay a plywood base on top as a floor.

    10. For the walls use 3 x 2 tanalised timber

    11. to cover the sides use feather edge boarding and overlap these.

    12. you can use featheredge boarding for the roof but put some felt under this.

    13. Make steps from two 6x2 on each side and 6x2 steps.

    14. put some 3x2 post at top middle and bottom of the steps

    15. Cut holes and insert a rope through the post for support

    16. Use galvanised bolts & nails

Check out some books, from the library A Treehouse of Your Own by John Harris

use this as a guide, As for free wood, check out new construction sites, reclame yards. etc. All the best search web for ideas on how you want it to look.

  7. lol if ur dads helping u he'll kno wat kind of wood to get make sure its treated so it'll last better. and dont forget to make a blueprint.

  8. Ok.. Well your gonna need wood, nails,Hammer, etc. You can get firewood from like Home Depot. If you have one of them near. Don't be suprised woods gonna be pretty expansive. Cause my dad, brother and me tried to make a club house once and the wood was not cheap! But, I hope when you make the clubhouse you and your friends will have a blast! You can put a whole bunch of stuff in it! I don't think you will have trouble fitting about 4 kids or so in there. But, you may want to sand the wood. So in the summertime if you guys are all playing and you want to go in the clubhouse and you are not wearing shoes it won't hurt your feet and you will be less likely to get splinters or just so you feel more relaxed. Have Fun!

  9. You would need wood boards of various sizes.  Plywood is OK but doesn't last. I've seen some rather elaborate treehouses that look like mini-homes.

The amount of wood depends on the tree.

It's going to cost at least $100 for everything.  It's best to design the treehouse first because you'd have to level the floors.

  10. if you don't want to paint it, you should consider redwood.

or even bamboo - they both hold up to rain and snow well.

other woods may need to be treated so they don't warp.
