  1. DON"T BURN IT! Wood that has not been properly "cured" with leave a sap residue that can ignite at any other time.  It is a big cause of chimney fires.  Drag the tree into the woods near by and let nature do the work.

  2. for the environment.  burning is worse.  conifers dont make good firewood anyhow.

  3. using the old tree

  4. Our community collects the trees and chips them for mulch.

  5. dont burn it on an open fire, conifer wood spits like mad.

  6. Whats your alternate fire wood? Wont you save another tree if you use your xmas tree for firewood?? Conclusion BURN IT!!!

Decomposing and burning is the same thing in a longer term of time...decomposing 100% will give all CO2 aswell. Decomposing wont improve soil, to much acid biproducts, low ph, will be the result. Thats why moss take over the grass when pine, spruce and fir are around.

Propane burning is much worse than bio burning because it comes from fossil petroleum. Look whats happening around the world. Every country have started Bio conversion, even California, LA and San Diego have started up, and they plan to reduse landfill with 85%

    READ THIS BLOGSPOT QUOTE

"Beginning in 2004 the County of Los Angeles engaged in a program to take a major leap forward in reducing the accumulation of seemingly unrecycleable waste that ends up going from county material recovery facilities (MRFs) to landfills. Their vision is to deploy emerging conversion technologies at the MRF that can cleanly reduce trash volume by as much as 85% without emitting toxins or greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. As a substantial bonus, renewable bioenergy could be captured through the generation of green electricity and/or biofuels - depending on which specific technology is chosen."

Look at this company,AgriPower, making mobile "burn bio waste" power plants, one is going into production in Sacramento CA next year

  7. How about not chopping down a Christmas tree at all? There are other ways of enjoying the christmas spirit without killing hundreds of thousands of beautiful trees each year! I know that most Christmas trees are grown just for that special month and so its not as bad as just chopping down any other random tree but how about planting your own special tree that you can keep with you for years and years to come, decorate it and watch it grow! You can plant in a pot or outside and decorate it up every Christmas!

  8. wat a great idea 0_0   ... i dont use x-mas trees id rather have a fake 1 ... but  nice idea like i said

  9. TRASHING THE TREE!! recycling is always better.

  10. Next time either don't get a tree or at least get one that is not cut down so that it can be replanted.

If you are already in this dilemma it really depends. Would you use more electric or gas to heat your home instead. If not I would  chop it by hand for exercise and compost it. Or if you have a wood chipper you could make ground cover out of it but then that would be burning energy too.

If you are really concerned just go without a tree or decorate one already in your yard. How about instead of chopping down trees for Christmas we be good environmental stewards and plant one instead.

  11. if you burn it it is like reusing the tree, better of to try and compost it,trashing it would be the worst thing to do

  12. I think if you compost and old xmas tree, it would make better soil. But if you use the xmas tree for firewood, it is good for you for heat and light but it is bad for the enviroment because of the smoke!

I think that using the tree for firewood is bad. Not only are you smoking out your house but you would be damaging the ozone layer a little bit more.

Compost it, that would be good for you because there would be a better soil for plants and flowers and it is good for the Earth because you would not be damaging anything.

Electric would not be better because you would be not only using the energy but wasting it and it takes alot of energy to carry it through step up transformers.

    I hope i hepled x x

  13. i think using ur old christmas tree as fire wood. i guess its smart but its also being cheap.lol doesn't it make ur house stink??
