What would America be like if we hadn't brought slaves here?

I personally think the importation of slaves was the biggest mistake our ancestors made. Imagine how much different our country would be without all the guilt and shame of slavery. What do you think?

  1. Guilt and shame?  I didn't enslave anyone!  I have nothing to feel guilty or shameful about.

  2. The only real difference I could imagine is that we wouldn't have had the Civil War. All countries have made mistakes in their past. But the past is the past and we'll never improve this country if we don't get out of the 19th century.

I'm not sure what you mean by "our" ancestors bringing slaves here. My ancestors didn't come here from Ireland until 20 years after the Civil War. I feel no shame.

  3. The mistake was not sending them back when we were done with them.

At least we tried in Liberia.

  4. The country would have developed 10 times slower because they were cleary to lazy to do work themselves...

  5. GUILT and SHAME ? Are you serious I nor any one in my family "owned anyone" My great grandparents on my mother's side and great-great grandparents on my father side came here long after the war . Too bad you feel this way and it seems it was your ancestors brought them here

  6. Then who would have done all the work that the slaves did?  Those slave ships weren't sailing back and forth across the Atlantic just for fun.
