My husband wants a divorce and he reckons I would not be entitled to half the house because of my infidelity and my name is not on the mortgage. We have been married for 10 years.

  1. its actually probably going to be 65-35, in your favor.

    your a woman, thats why

Oh, and he probably makes more money(ii presume because he has the name on the house) so you get the benefit

  2. do not move out..because that will make you at a disadvantage. depends on your state but i think it would be split with the house and it doesnt matter that you cheated.

  3. In most states infidelity is irrelevant. It plays no part in the settlement. Not sure on the mortgage but I would doubt he's as safe as he thinks. Get a good lawyer. He will go through all the assets and debt. Usually things are split 50:50 and most recently the women are making out pretty will with alimony and child support. Good luck.

  4. unless you signed an agreement, you're probably entitled to half, get a good lawyer to make sure

  5. i reckon your husband could get a good attorney and cause some problems due to the fact your name isnt on the mortgage. maybe he had it before you, it may or may not matter.

  6. It depends on your state laws. If you live in a community property state, half of everything belongs to you. If you live in a state that has a divorce system that finds fault, you may not get much because of your infidelity.

  7. depends on if he bought the house before you were married or not. only assets aquired within the marriage are split

  8. Go to the Citizens Advice Bureau (assuming you're British).  People are usually entitled to half of what was gained during the marriage. Infidelity is irrelevant.

  9. it depends on your state - if in florida try to stay in the marriage for at least 2 more years - as after 12 years you become eligible for alimony.....

  10. In most states you will get 50/50. Infidelity has no part in it.
