  1. Are you expected to supervise school work? Ä°f so, it is up to the parents to make it clear what their expectations are.

As only parents can home school, you should not be expected to teach anything.

  2. Watch TV

Ask the kid if they are supposed to be doing work if they are not.  Remind them YOU may HAVE to tell their parents what was going on and you have an OBLIGATION TO DO THAT, because THEY are paying you not the kid.

Other than that, get on the cell phone can chat, text.  Raid the fridge.

See if the kid is hungry too.

If you want to get involved play 20 questions and see how smart the kid is.

Find out what the parents are expecting over the time period.

  3. Babysitting is just that, babysitting. who care where the kid goes to school.

  4. Well other than the previous responses you've gotten my tounge-in-cheek response is this:

Perhaps you might get an education as well? I know my children would probably teach you a thing or two!

The reality is you are being hired to babysit - are you a good babysitter? Do you want the money? What's the real questio here?

  5. Umm...you do exactly the same as you do if you were babysitting for a child who went to public school or private school!

  6. Who is teaching them....if they have a teacher for school why would they need you to babysit.....and if its after school hours for parents to get away awhile....whats wrong with babysitting them ? Being homeschooled isnt a desease........you afraid you will catch something ?......And thats a choice you have to make on your own...maybe homeschooling would have taught you that..........

  7. Ask your prospective employer what their expectations are.  Then you will be able to make an informed decision as to whether or not you want to do the babysitting job.

  8. Why would that be any different than sitting for a schooled kid?

  9. What do you mean?  What makes them any different from any other kid?  Other than the fact that they'll be likely to obey you the first time, be respectful, clean up after themselves, and likely be the easiest babysitting job you've ever had, I mean.

Gosh, why would you want to do that?

Homeschool kids are kids, just like any other kids.  Why would you think twice about babysitting for them?

  10. I am pretty sure you  would do regular kid thing. If the child is home schooled then the parents would not expect you to do anything academic.

  11. I would suggest that you take the job if you like baby sitting.  The children will be no different from any others that you sit for  In fact, they might be very interesting to  talk to about the work that they are doing in homeschooling.

  12. What difference does it make whether the child is homeschooled or public schooled. I know lots of young homeschooled children, and they are usually no different than public school kids except that they begave better and don't kick and scream and shout and swear and throw temper tantrums!

  13. Is somebody forcing you to babysit? Strange question, why would it make a difference for you to babysit a homeschooled kid? I don't get it?

  14. I would recommend taking the job if you want it.

Don't take it if you don't want to.

Expect the parents to be loving, caring and involved parents since this is typically the type of person who homeschools their kids.

  15. What do you mean "what would you do?"

    that doesn't make any sense.

Last time I checked, babysitting is a choice, so your statement if you "had" to babysit doesn't make sense either.

If you don't like homeschool families, don't take the job.

If it is something completely different, clarify your question so we may answer appropriately.

  16. Are you saying that someone who is supposed to be home with the child and homeschooling him/her has asked you to babysit for the child during the day?  If so, I would report it.  That parent is supposed to be teaching that child during the day not hiring a babysitter.
