What would Ricky Hatton have to beat Mayweather, Do you think he could ever beat him? Do you think a rematch is wise?

  1. two things to have a chance...

    1. A Competent Ref... He was letting Mayweather hold the whole night! It seemed like he was against Hatton... I thought it was very suspicious..

    2. Weight... he is not as strong or effective at l47 lbs... It was a money fight! He is so much better at 140 lbs.

I think it would give him a fair shot at Maywether..I don't know if he can beat him, but it sure does not help when its 2 against one!

  2. if he has a re match and wins he'll become a LEGEND becuz most legendary fighters which have  lost a fight hve a rematch and win at least once no matter how many times the other wins if u beat that opponent u'll be a legend, other than that its not wise ricky can beat him he just needs to bit his hed down and beat mayweather psychologically becuz boxing can become a psychological game anyways it VERY likely that HAATTTONN will face the winner of mayweather vs osca de la hoya II at WEMBLEY STADIUM in summer 2009

  3. Yeah, he should go for a rematch and just go for it. Hopefully he'll catch mayweather on an off day. If Hatton was able to get mayweather to come over to Manchester he would definitely have a better chance than last time!

  4. not really wise, he had to step up a  weight and i think that counted against him.

  5. Hatton brought an unusual amount of speed and quickness to the first fight as compared to most of Floyd's opponents whom are generally grossly outclassed. You could see for a few rounds at least that Hatton's quickness was bothering Floyd. So I believe that in the end the key to beating Mayweather; speed. Problem is, who is faster than Floyd??

Mayweather adjusted and knocked Hatton out. Really, what could an older, agruably slower and flatter Hatton bring to a rematch?

  6. As many other answers have said, Hatton struggles at 147, he belongs at 140 where he can rely on his strength and power which do not translate over to 147.

There's no doubt he could beat Mayweather, but he'd need a referee who allowed him to use elbows and heads and generally rough up Mayweather, he'd need a set of judges who were not the most honest, he'd need a great deal of luck, he'd need to catch Mayweather on a bad day, and he'd need to have a couple of alternative fighting plans to fall back on should his Plan A or Plan B not work.

Mayweather is a quicker, cuter and more accurate fighter who won't stand and trade with Hatton. He'll dance 12 rounds nipping in and out with effective combinations. Hatton stalking Mayweather around the ring can only ever lead to him walking on to the Mayweather jab and quick jab-hook combinations.

As much as I love Hatton, Mayweather is the best fighter of his generation who has far too much skill and class for Hatton, and especially at that weight. If the fight was at 140 instead of 147, Hatton would have a greater chance, but Mayweather has no reason at all to come down to 140, it's only a case of Hatton moving up.

  7. He wont beat him but he will get a massive pay day, Ricky has struggled at welterweight whenever his fought there. He has generally fought blown up light weights or faded light welters. His 1 truely big victory against Kostya zu was over an ageing champion who had fought 3 rounds in 3 years due to injuries. Mayweather knocked Hatton spark out despite not having knocked anyone out for several years himself. But Ricky knows another Mayweather fight is worth Millions. If either really want to prove they are P4P best they would fight Cotto or Margerito.

  8. Bring a shotgun to the ring and have Micky Vann referee the fight.  Then I'd give Hatton a 5 in 8 chance of victory.

Other than that, never.  Another beatdown from Floyd is a career ender for the Manchesterinianian.

  9. i think ricky would would beat floyd next time if they fight, but he would have to change his style for instance ricky likes to jump straight in get in close and work those awsome body shots,i think next time around let mayweather do all the coming forward and then catch him,in the last fight mayweather didn't take the fight to hatton he waited for ricky to come forward and then picked him off.in saying that though i do also think the ref spoiled it for ricky i am sure ricky would of stopped floyd later on in the fight if he was allowed to stay in close and unleash he powerfull body shots.

  10. He would probably get KO'd again.

But his only chance would be to geta  U.K. ref & a few hometown judges.

Hatton did not look to good Saturday against Lazcano & will get KO'd again in his next fight against a top guy with power @ 140  or just about any top guy @ Welter.

  11. Ricky needs to lay off the pints for one thing. He was leading on some scorecards in the mayweather fight till midway through when his conditioning went sour on him. He had nothing left. Same with his fight this weekend. He got hit alot on his chin. He is only 29 years old and his conditioning at this weight class is going to get worse. His eating habits and weight fluxuation may have been a joke in the past but it is starting to catch up with him now. I like Ricky Hatton but the heart of the boxer is also in has to be 100 percent all the time even out of the ring.

  12. Not in this life era. He did not look good vs Lascano at all. In fact I think the judges were too Hattonish.
