What would YOU think the deal is?

Ok, so I started my first job in a Cato's Clothing Store (You may have never heard of it.)

Anyway, I've worked there for about a month now. They NEVER give me any hours...maybe 20 at the most for 2 weeks. (I get paid every 2 weeks)

Well, it seems like someone (the manager..maybe) is trying to s***w with me to get me to quit. They made my hours out 2 weeks in advance...and a girl that works with me called and said "Girl, why weren't you here Monday??" and I was like 'HUH'?

Someone changed the hours around..and NEVER called me. Even the day that I was "suppose to be there" they never called to say "why were you not here??".

I had no clue that it would be changed..and they never called...I was only suppose to work one day.

NOW...I don't go in until NEXT Wednesday... so I don't get many hours again. Only 5 ppl work there INCLUDING me. 2 people work at a time in the store....

I'm new to all this..but I found this SO frustrating. Sorry it's so long, but what is YOUR take on it?

  1. A lot of little stores are like this. Generally stores in the mall and other places operate liek this. They have one or two managers that do most of the work and a few part time employees. what hours do the other employees get? Plus if they didn't even mention anything they likely dont really care

  2. If you can handle more hours, any chance of getting employment elsewhere?  Maybe this truly was a mistake on behalf of management?  Have you talked to them?
