Question:

What would a Gibson les Paul Standard sound like on a crappy starter kit amp or garageband on mac?

im getting a les paul standard but only have this S****y amp that cam with a starter guitar kit but I also have a mac with garageband with a sterio connected to it

    You did the right thing to invest in one good piece of equipment and that is the guitar. If it plays so-so through the amp you have, at least, you can learn to play and listen to your music.

    Eventually, you can go on e-bay and get a cheap one. In any case, that guitar is a good buy.


  2. garageband is kind of a crappy program.....its not bad..but its not even close to pro level.  to be honest, i don't think that you should get a les paul unless you have a decent amp to play it through, it won't sound great.  i would actually reccomend that you invested in a quality amp before a quality guitar.  remember, the guitarist makes the guitar sound good, but no guitarist can make a S****y amp sound good.  it will sound better through garageband probably, if you have it going through decent speakers.  to be honest, invest in perhaps a cheap line6 amp.  i hate line6 amps to death, but they will do your les paul some degree of justice.  the vox ad series amps are also inexpensive and have an excellent tone.
