The mean Consumer price index for 1947 is 22.33

The Consumer price index for 2008 is: 215.132

I get $2.50.

Is this correct?

  1. Something that costs a quarter in 1947 would cost about $2.50 today, if your CPI numbers are correct, and they are in the ballpark. Some items have risen faster and some slower.

The quarter coin itself might be worth much more than 25 cents if it had any collector's value. An uncirculated 1947 of the highest quality is worth well over $300.  The silver and copper metal in a 1947 quarter is now worth over $3.

  2. same 25 cents, unless you lose it or it falls out of your pocket then it would be .00

  3. probaly 25 cents
