What would a typical French family's dinner be like?

Stewed chicken

Fruit and cheese.

Lots of wine.

onion soup followed by asparagus with hollandaise sauce, and then steak, bernaise sauce and potato gratin, followed by fruit, cheese or tart

Escargot?  Quische?  Creme Broulee?  I would think it would be a nice cut of beef, braised with broth, and mashed potato's.  Don't forget the red wine!
