If necessary yes.  Believe it or not, police officers are human.

An officer can always call a backup unit to take over for a few minutes, it's not a big deal.  I do know a state trooper who actually went under a bridge once when he had to go.

Proper police protocol calls for doing it in one's pants and then discreetly shaking it out the pants leg. We do this all the time and if someone notices we blame it on the dog, Sergeant Buster.

He would probably try and find a replacement officer, even if the replacement is from another agency.  But, if he must, yes, he will leave.  I suppose one exception would be if his presence was so greatly needed to protect the scene that lives would be placed at risk in his absence, however that situation would be quite unusual and another officer would probably be there anyway in such cases.
